Role Summary

The VP, Government Affairs & Public Policy will lead Myriad's enterprise-wide policy, government affairs, and advocacy strategy, integrating federal, state, and regulatory engagement to advance patient access, reimbursement, and appropriate regulation of the company's product portfolio.

This role operates at the intersection of policy, market access, regulatory strategy, and commercial growth, with direct accountability for helping shape the external environment to enable adoption and reimbursement of Myriad's products in oncology, women's health, and mental health.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this leader will serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team, ensuring Myriad is positioned to anticipate, influence, and respond to an increasingly complex and dynamic policy landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Enterprise Policy Strategy
  • Define and lead a government affairs and public policy strategy across federal, state, and regulatory domains
  • Align policy priorities with enterprise growth objectives, including revenue expansion, reimbursement, and test adoption
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for policy-related business impact
  1. Federal, State & Regulatory Leadership
  • Lead coordinated engagement across:
    • Congress, CMS, FDA, HHS, VA
    • State legislatures and Medicaid programs
  • Shape policy related to:
    • HHS oversight of diagnostics (including LDTs and CDx)
    • Medicare Clinical Lab Fee Schedule (CLFS)
    • Coverage, coding, and reimbursement frameworks
    • Prior authorization and utilization management
    • Telehealth and digital diagnostics
    • AI and algorithm governance in healthcare
  1. Reimbursement & Market Access Integration
  • Partner with Market Access and Commercial leadership to:
    • Influence coverage and payment policy
    • Remove barriers to adoption across public and private payers
  • Ensure policy strategy is directly linked to growth and access expansion
  1. Strategic Advocacy & External Engagement
  • Build and lead relationships with:
    • Policymakers and regulators
    • Trade associations and coalitions
    • Patient advocacy organizations
  • Position Myriad as a thought leader in precision medicine and advanced diagnostics policy
  1. Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Legal, and R&D teams
  • Translate policy developments into clear business implications and actions
  • Inform product strategy, evidence generation, and go-to-market decisions
  1. PAC, Governance & Compliance
  • Oversee company PAC strategy and governance
  • Manage external lobbying firms, consultants, and coalition participation
  • Ensure compliance with all lobbying and political activity requirements
  1. Scenario Planning & Risk Management
  • Lead forward-looking policy scenario planning (e.g., CMS and FDA shifts, pricing reform, AI regulation)
  • Identify risks and opportunities impacting:
    • Revenue
    • Market access
    • Innovation pipeline

Qualifications

Experience
  • 15+ years of leadership experience in government affairs, public policy, or health policy
  • Experience in both federal and state environments
  • Strong preference for experience in diagnostics, precision medicine, or healthcare services

  • Proven ability to develop and connect policy strategy to business outcomes (revenue, access, adoption)

Diagnostics & Regulatory Expertise
  • Working knowledge of:
    • HHS regulation of diagnostics (including LDTs and CDx)
    • CMS reimbursement systems (CLFS, coding, coverage)
    • Evolving digital health and AI policy landscape

Executive Influence
  • Trusted advisor to senior leadership with strong executive presence
  • Established relationships with CMS, FDA, Congressional leaders, and key state stakeholders

Cross-Functional Integration
  • Experience partnering across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Legal

Strategic & Analytical Thinking
  • Ability to translate policy developments into clear financial and operational impact

Success Profile (What "Great" Looks Like in 24-36 Months)
  • Expanded Medicare and/or Medicaid coverage for key products
  • Clear policy roadmap tied to revenue growth and adoption
  • Strengthened positioning with CMS and key policymakers
  • Integrated, enterprise-wide policy function aligned with Commercial and Market Access
  • Measurable reduction in policy-related barriers to growth

Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements -light work or exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical
