Job Duties:
  • Supervise and support the team responsible for obtaining prior authorizations.
  • Monitor daily work queues to ensure timely processing of authorizations and prevent scheduling or care delays.
  • Enforce productivity, quality, and turnaround time standards
  • Review and resolve escalated authorization issues, including urgent/stat requests and complex payer requirements
  • Partner with scheduling teams to ensure alignment between authorization status and appointment readiness
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle leadership to reduce authorization-related denials and improve clean claim rates
  • Ensure compliance with payer guidelines, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
  • Maintain knowledge of payer-specific rules, medical necessity requirements, and authorization platforms
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training of team members to ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Conduct regular audits of authorization quality and documentation
  • Develop and maintain and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for authorization workflows
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve end-to-end patient access and reimbursement outcomes

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in healthcare prior authorizations, radiology/imaging preferred
  • 1+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorization processes, and payer requirements
  • Experience working with radiology systems (RIS), EMR, and payer portals preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of imaging services and medical necessity criteria
  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding as it relates to authorizations preferred
  • Ability to manage high-volume workflows with competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to identify trends and drive solutions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to work cross-functionally
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and healthcare systems
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
