We are currently looking for a Lab Assistant to join our growing team!

Please note: This role is split approximately 50% courier duties (client sample pickup/drop-off) and 50% laboratory administrative support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Courier Responsibilities (Approx. 50%)
  • Pick up and deliver client samples according to scheduled routes and timelines.
  • Ensure proper handling, chain of custody, and temperature control during transport.
  • Maintain delivery logs, perform vehicle safety checks, and ensure vehicle cleanliness.
  • Communicate professionally with clients during pickups and drop-offs.
  • Support urgent or on-demand deliveries as needed.

Laboratory Administrative Responsibilities (Approx. 50%)
  • Log customer samples into the LIMS system with accuracy; use products as needed.
  • Split samples between departments and ensure timely, accurate, and reliable processing.
  • Maintain adherence to daily work schedules and workload priorities.
  • Make recommendations regarding logging processes, product specifications, and customer communications.
  • Perform clerical accuracy checks and ensure all samples are labeled and stored correctly.
  • Keep the sample receiving/splitting room organized, cleaned, and maintained.
  • Support ISO and QC documentation and process adherence.
  • Interact with clients, suppliers, and vendors as required.
  • Assist with purchasing, inventory management, and stocking supplies (labels, boxes, etc.).
  • Assist with sample retain and retrieval.
  • Support media preparation, washing of glassware, and general laboratory housekeeping.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor.
  • Keep the Manager/Supervisor informed of department issues or concerns.
  • Learn new techniques and technologies and help train others when appropriate.
  • Work effectively with other departments and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for daily courier routes.
  • Valid, clean driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Strong administrative skills, including data entry accuracy, document management, and organization.
  • Knowledge of aseptic technique and behaviors that reduce cross-contamination.
  • Basic laboratory skills and understanding of lab workflows.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to teach or guide others through processes.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative reasoning skills.
  • Excellent mathematical and communication skills.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 40 lbs.

Monday - Friday; 10am-7pm
