POSITION SCHEDULE DETAILS
We're looking for a Data Engineer who can take ownership of StickerGiant's data ecosystem. This role blends hands-on engineering with strategic architecture, ensuring our business has reliable, scalable, and governed data pipelines that fuel analytics, marketing technology, and executive decision-making. You'll have the opportunity to shape how data flows across our systems - from event streams to BI dashboards - and deliver measurable business value from day one.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY ADVENTURES
- Build and maintain data pipelines (batch and streaming) for analytics, Martech integrations, and operational needs. Manage data warehouses (Redshift, Postgres) and ensure performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Design, implement, and maintain data models aligned with analytics and business requirements.
- Conduct performance tuning and data quality checks to ensure accuracy, availability, and trust in data.
- Own tasks end-to-end: from ideation and design through implementation, testing, and delivery of business value.
- Collaborate with the Data Analytics team, engineering peers, and executive leadership to enable actionable insights.
- Integrate Martech tools (e.g., Segment, Braze) with downstream systems for customer engagement and personalization.
- Apply AI-driven solutions (preferably with AWS Bedrock and knowledge base integrations) to enhance insight generation.
TECHNICAL EXPECTATIONS
- Proficiency with Redshift and Postgres for data warehousing and modeling.
- Experience with Kafka for event streaming and Java JVM for service integration.
- Hands-on expertise in ETL processes, schema management, and governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with Martech integrations such as Segment and Braze.
- Solid understanding of PII data handling and compliance requirements.
- Ability to combine structured (SQL) and unstructured (JSON, event streams) data for flexible data solutions.
- Experience leveraging AI tooling (preferably AWS Bedrock) to accelerate insight gathering and analytics capabilities.
BUSINESS & PEOPLE EXPECTATIONS
- Communicate data architecture and engineering decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with analytics, engineering, and business leaders to align data initiatives with company priorities.
- Act as a trusted collaborator while functioning as an individual contributor (not a people manager).
- Take ownership of outcomes - ensuring data products deliver measurable value to the business.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years of professional experience in data engineering or data architecture roles.
- Hands-on expertise with SQL, ETL, event streams, and data modeling.
- Background in e-commerce or digital product environments strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage both the tactical (builder) and strategic (architect) aspects of data work.
OUR IDEAL PERSON
- Precise, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality data solutions.
- Strong communicator, able to bridge gaps between engineering, analytics, and business teams.
- Ownership mindset - someone who thrives in taking responsibility from idea to implementation.
- Equally comfortable coding pipelines as designing the long-term architecture vision.
POSITION SCHEDULE DETAILS
- Full-time position, hybrid.
- Standard schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours/week.
- May occasionally support off-hours incident response (e.g., warehouse or critical data outages).
- Pay Range: $115k - $145k.
